We're so happy to announce that we are now volunteering our time and talents with Kids Need To Read! Kids Need To Read, also known as KNTR for short, is a non-profit corporation whose mission is: "to create a culture of reading for children by providing inspiring books to underfunded schools, libraries, and literacy programs across the United States, especially those serving disadvantaged children." All of us at Off The Page found their mission similar to ours and reached out to KNTR to tell them what we do. Having met the volunteer and events coordinator at Tempe LibCon, we were able to introduce ourselves and get contact information. Reaching out again to further explain what Off The Page does, they got excited to include us in some of their events! One of those events are their Literacy Nights! We had our first Literacy Night at Lowell Elementary School in Mesa and wow! It was a hit! Rapunzel and Snow White were able to hand out books alongside Kids Need To Read, while students read some excerpts from their favorite Dr. Seuss books! Rapunzel and Snow White had such a great time and cannot wait to participate in another! The next Literacy Night they will be attending with KNTR is at Ignacio Conchos School. These events are for the students and families of the particular schools they are held at and are not public events. For those events, please check our Facebook events page! Until then, we will be visiting more schools for their private Literacy Nights! Thank you for allowing us to join you at these fantastic events, Kids Need To Read!
